Yes, most of our coats and jackets can be washed in the washing machine. However, we always recommend reading the individual care label on the product, as washing instructions may vary depending on the fabric and construction. In general, we recommend following these steps:

1. Check the care instructions: Look for the care instructions on the product, which are usually found on the label inside the inner pocket of the jacket/coat. Here you will find information about the recommended washing temperature, wash programme and any special instructions.
2. Close zips and buttons: Before putting your coat or jacket in the washing machine, make sure to close all zips and buttons. This helps protect the product during washing.
3. Use a gentle programme: Choose a gentle wash cycle with cold water and mild detergent to preserve the colours and quality of the fabric.
4. Avoid tumble drying: We recommend avoiding tumble drying, as this can damage the fabric and fit. Instead, you can hang your coat or jacket to dry on a drying rack or hanger.

Our down jackets often require a more specialised approach, which you can read more about in our guide to maintaining down. If you are unsure how to wash your specific jacket or coat, you are welcome to contact our customer service for personal guidance. We are here to ensure that your clothing remains in the best possible condition.

It is important to read and follow these washing instructions carefully to ensure that your Junge jacket or coat remains in good condition over time.

Can down jackets be washed in the washing machine?

Yes, our Junge down jackets can be washed in the washing machine, but it is important to follow some specific guidelines to keep the down jacket in the best possible condition:

1. Read the care label: Always start by reading the care label on your down jacket. Some down jackets may require special attention or specific washing conditions.
2. Use a mild detergent: Use a mild detergent, preferably one intended for delicate fabrics and down products, such as Nikwax. Avoid using fabric softener, as it can damage the down.
3. Close zips and buttons: Close all zips and buttons on your jacket to prevent them from being damaged during washing.
4. Wash on a gentle cycle: Choose a gentle wash cycle at the recommended temperature on the care label. Use a large-capacity washing machine if your jacket is filled with down.
5. Tumble drying: When drying your down jacket, tumble drying on low heat should be used. To achieve the best results and maintain the loft and insulating ability of the down, we recommend adding 3-4 clean dryer balls to the dryer. This trick helps ensure that the down remains evenly distributed and that your jacket/coat/vest retains its volume

3. Add dryer balls: To prevent the down from clumping together during drying, you can add a couple of clean tennis balls to the dryer along with your jacket. This helps distribute the down evenly. It also restores the jacket's volume.
4. Check the condition of the jacket: Before tumble-drying your down jacket or coat, make sure it does not require any repairs. If there are tears or holes, they should be repaired before you tumble-dry the product.
